STK

Spiral CT scan (or CKT) is one of the types of tomographic examination of the human body. In medicine, it is used to study the condition and pathology of the bone system and soft tissues. In practice, computer tomography is irreplaceable in the diagnosis of lung diseases, injuries of the locomotor apparatus, with damage to the head (for the detection of small and deep fractures, hemorrhages), in case of suspicion of a heart attack, for the diagnosis of parotid sinuses of the nose, orbits.

It is also used in the diagnosis of diseases of the abdominal cavity, kidneys, for the detection of stones or extraneous bodies at any point in the human body.

How is CT scan?

Computer tomography is carried out in a lying position. A laboratory assistant helps the patient conveniently and correctly to go to a special table in accordance with the area under study. Then the assistant goes to the computer. Despite the fact that the researcher remains in the room alone, he can talk to a doctor at any time with a special device.

The table of the tomograph can move during the study. It moves inside the tomographic setting. During the study, the doctor may ask you not to breathe or move. When taking pictures, the camera moves around the patient's body and produces some noise. At the end of the procedure, you need to wait for a doctor to help you safely get out of the table.

What do you need to bring with you for research?

Going for a CT scan, take with you:

referral from the doctor;

results of previous studies;

At examination with a contrast agent, the results of blood urea and creatinine, delivered no later than 10 days before the survey.

CTC with contrast agents?

Computed tomography with the use of contrast media is required for visualization of blood vessels. Contrast is administered intravenously. It is important to tell your doctor if the contrast substance is safe to use:

  • High sensitivity to drugs
  • Hypersensitivity to iodine
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Cardiological problems
  • Renal insufficiency
  • Asthma, dyspnea or bronchitis
  • Chronic diseases
  • Diseases of the thyroid gland

If you have been assigned CT scan with the use of a contrast agent, you should not take food for two hours before the study, and in the study of the abdomen - within four hours.

When you receive the results of the survey, you will receive: a film, a doctor's report and a disk.

The results of the tests are issued the day after the diagnosis.
